1. Material Composition
GR2 Titanium Plate: GR2 is a pure titanium plate, not a titanium alloy, with standard ferrite content and no or only trace amounts of alloying elements. Its impurity content is relatively low, giving it unique advantages in specific applications.
GR12 Titanium Plate: GR12 is a titanium alloy plate, specifically a Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni near-alpha alloy. It contains 0.3% molybdenum (Mo) and 0.8% nickel (Ni). The addition of these alloy elements not only strengthens the alloy but also significantly enhances its corrosion resistance.
2. Physical Properties
Mechanical Strength and Hardness: Generally, as the content of impurities increases, the mechanical strength and hardness of the material gradually increase. As a pure titanium plate, GR2 has relatively low mechanical strength and hardness but good plasticity and toughness. In contrast, GR12, as a titanium alloy, exhibits superior performance in certain aspects due to the addition of alloying elements, such as higher mechanical strength and hardness compared to GR2.
Corrosion Resistance: GR2 titanium plate has excellent corrosion resistance and is suitable for applications requiring high corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. GR12 titanium plate demonstrates superior corrosion resistance, particularly in harsh environments such as high temperatures, low pH chloride solutions, or weak reducing acids, where its corrosion resistance significantly outperforms pure titanium GR2.
