I. Product Description
Gr5 Etched Color Plate is made by chemically etching various patterns onto the surface of titanium plates, followed by coloring to achieve decorative and aesthetic effects.
II. Process Type
1. Chemical Etching of Gr5 Etched Color Plate
The etching process of titanium alloys differs from traditional stainless steel etching. Its characteristics mean it does not react with ordinary etching solutions. Specialized titanium alloy etching solutions are required for chemical etching. Acidic or alkaline solutions (such as a mixture of HF and NO₃) are used to dissolve the titanium surface, and a mask is used to protect the non-etched areas.
Advantages: High precision (up to ±0.01mm), suitable for complex graphics; Disadvantages: Requires waste liquid treatment, high environmental protection requirements.
2. Coloring: Anodizing Method The acid-washed substrate is subjected to voltage treatment using phosphoric acid of appropriate electrolyte concentration. Aluminum is used as the cathode and titanium as the anode, and constant voltage treatment is applied. The voltage thickens the oxide film on the titanium surface, resulting in different color changes depending on the film thickness.
III. Application Areas of Gr5 Etched Color Plate
1. Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bipolar Plates
Requirements: Microchannel structure (width 0.1-0.5mm), high conductivity, and resistance to hydrogen permeation.
Process: Chemical etching + surface plating (e.g., gold, platinum) to improve conductivity.
2. Medical Implants
Requirements: Microporous surface structure (promotes bone cell growth), biocompatibility.
Process: Photolithography mask + stepped etching + coloring; post-processing requires thorough removal of chemical residues.
3. Aerospace Parts
Requirements: Lightweight mesh structure, resistance to high-temperature oxidation.
