GR4 is the highest-strength grade in the commercially pure titanium series, with a minimum tensile strength of 550 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 483 MPa-significantly higher than the commonly used GR2. This performance advantage stems from tighter control of interstitial elements: with an oxygen content limit of up to 0.40%, GR4 retains the excellent corrosion resistance of pure titanium while pushing its load-bearing capacity to the level of low-alloy steel through solid-solution strengthening. For applications requiring both chloride-environment corrosion resistance and structural strength, GR4 offers a cost-effective alternative to titanium alloys.
The ingots in this batch will primarily serve the chemical equipment, marine engineering, and high-end fastener manufacturing sectors. In chemical processing machinery, heat exchangers, and seawater desalination units, GR4 effectively resists attack from neutral chlorides and oxidizing media while withstanding higher design stresses than GR2. For fastener users, GR4 responds well to cold working, with tensile strength further increasing to the 900 MPa range after appropriate cold processing-meeting the material selection needs of high-strength connections.
