Product Overview:
TA31 titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-3Nb-2Zr-1Mo) is a new near-α titanium alloy independently developed by China, which is specially designed for marine engineering and high-end equipment. Based on the advantages of high specific strength of traditional titanium alloys, this alloy achieves an excellent balance of strength, toughness, corrosion resistance and welding performance by optimizing the ratio of Al, Nb, Zr, Mo and other elements.
The TA31 titanium round ingots produced by our company adopt the dual process of "vacuum self-consuming electric arc furnace melting (VAR) + electron beam cold bed furnace (EB) remelting" to ensure uniform ingot composition, no segregation, and no high-density inclusions, and provide high-quality billets for downstream forgings, plates and pipes.
Core product features:
Excellent adaptability to the marine environment
TA31 titanium alloy has strong corrosion resistance to seawater, marine atmosphere and chloride ion environment. Its surface can form a dense and self-healing oxide film (TiO₂), which fundamentally eliminates pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking, especially suitable for the harsh working conditions of deep sea high pressure and high salt spray. Studies have shown that TA31 exhibits extremely high passivation ability in NaCl solution, with a service life of decades, achieving "less maintenance" or even "zero maintenance" of marine equipment.
Excellent high strength and toughness matching
The ingot has a uniform structure and stable mechanical properties after thermal processing. Typical mechanical properties (for reference):
Tensile strength: ≥880 MPa (up to 978 MPa)
Yield strength: ≥785 MPa (up to 831 MPa)
Elongation at break: ≥12%
Impact absorption work: ≥47J
Strong process adaptability
Width of hot working window: The suitable hot working temperature range is 900~1000°C, especially when rolling at 950°C, a uniform and fine isoaxial structure can be obtained, and the deformation resistance is low.
Excellent welding performance: laser welding, TIG welding and other processes can be used, and the weld strength coefficient can reach more than 90% of the base metal, which is suitable for the manufacture of key structures such as the pressure-resistant shell of deep-sea submersibles.

Manufacturing & Quality Control
Melting process: TA31 titanium alloy ingots adopt the "VAR+EB" duplex process. The electron beam cold bed furnace can effectively remove high and low density inclusions, solve the risk of inclusions that may exist in traditional vacuum self-consumption ingots, and significantly improve the purity and structural uniformity of the alloy.
Implementation standards: The products strictly follow the requirements of GB/T 3620.1-2016 and GB/T 35364-2017 "TA31 Alloy Forgings for Submersibles" and other standards.
Specification range: A variety of specifications of ingots can be provided to meet the needs of different tonnage forgings (such as oversized forgings).
Typical application areas
Deep-sea equipment: pressure-resistant shell, observation window frame, robotic arm joint of manned/unmanned submersible vehicle (in line with GB/T 35364 standard).
Offshore oil and gas exploitation: underwater oil trees, drilling risers, submarine manifold connectors, high-pressure pump valve housings.
Ships: corrosion-resistant components such as seawater pipeline systems, thruster shafts, and sea valves.
Petrochemical: reactors and pipeline systems that are resistant to high temperature concentrated sulfuric acid and organic acid corrosion.
