I. Product Details

GR12 titanium alloy plate is a premium metal material offering balanced performance. Its precise composition of Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni significantly enhances strength and corrosion resistance while maintaining the excellent machinability of industrial pure titanium, particularly excelling in chloride environments. For applications requiring a balance between corrosion resistance and strength, GR12 is the ideal choice.

Tensile Strength: ≥485 MPa

Density: 4.51 g/cm³ (approximately 60% of steel)

Yield Strength: ≥345 MPa

Elongation at Break: ≥30%

II. Production Process

Annealing Pre-treatment: Hot-rolled sheets undergo annealing at 700-750°C for 2 hours, followed by air cooling to relieve internal stresses from hot rolling and restore plasticity.

Multi-pass Cold Rolling: Conducted at room temperature with 20-30% deformation per pass. A total of 3-5 passes progressively reduce sheet thickness to target values (0.3-10 mm). Rolling speed: 2-5 m/s. Rolls require polishing treatment.

Intermediate Annealing: After every 2-3 cold rolling passes, repeat the 700-750°C annealing process to prevent cracks caused by work hardening.

Final Cold Rolling: Control the deformation rate of the last pass at 15-20% to ensure surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.8μm and dimensional tolerances meet specifications.

Key Control Points

Temperature Control: Avoid exceeding 980°C throughout heating to prevent β-phase precipitation and corrosion resistance degradation. Pre-cold rolling annealing temperature must not be excessively high to prevent coarse grain formation.

Deformation Control: Single-pass deformation should not exceed 50%, with cumulative deformation reaching 70-80% to balance efficiency and formability.

Surface Protection: Employ argon or nitrogen gas shielding during hot rolling to prevent surface oxidation forming TiO₂. Remove hot-rolled surface scale prior to cold rolling (via mechanical grinding or acid pickling).
