What is the difference between GR5 titanium and GR5ELI titanium?

    The composition of titanium alloy GR5 material is Ti-6Al-4V, which belongs to (α+β)-type titanium alloy with good comprehensive mechanical and mechanical properties.TC4 is the main grade inside titanium alloy. With its excellent performance, it has shown its incomparable charm and strength in many high-end fields such as aerospace, military equipment, marine engineering and medical devices.

    The composition of GR5Eli titanium alloy is Ti-6A1-4VELI, which is an ultra-pure titanium alloy with low interstitial elements and excellent mechanical and process properties. Compared with GR5, GR5Eli has lower content of impurity elements and stricter composition control, so its performance is more stable and reliable.

Chemical Composition

On the basis of TC4, the content of interstitial elements (C, O, N) and impurity element Fe is significantly reduced. O ≤ 0.13%;

Containing 6% of α-stable element Al, 4% of β-stable element V. O ≤ 0.2%

Mechanical Properties and Environment

Strength is slightly lower than GR5, but plasticity, toughness, fracture toughness and low-temperature performance is significantly improved, can be used in ultra-low temperature (-196 ℃) environment

Medium room temperature strength and high temperature strength, suitable for normal or high temperature environment (≤450 ℃) fatigue resistance, creep resistance and thermal stability, but the performance is limited in low temperature environment.

Process

It must be melted three times.

No special requirements for the general melting of the second

 

Application‌

Scenarios requiring low temperature or high toughness, such as cryogenic engineering (e.g. liquid hydrogen storage tanks), medical implants (orthopaedic/dental instruments), ships and aircraft beams, etc., have outstanding biocompatibility and are suitable for long-term implantation into the human body.

Aero-engine compressor discs/blades, aircraft load-bearing structural parts (e.g. beams, spacer frames).

Applicable temperature range: -196~450℃ (but the low temperature performance is weaker than GR5ELI).
